Quinn The Eskimo
Quinn The Eskimo formed in Newcastle in the mid 1980s. Consisting of Dave Cook (vocals), Richard Scott (guitar and vocals), Graeme Cooper (bass) and Ken Goodinson (drums), their music was a refreshing antidote to 80s indiepop, with a timeless feel rooted in sixties pop, the folk tradition, psychedelic tinges and a strongly literary character to their lyrics. They recorded one album for Summerhouse, supported Julian Cope, Robyn Hitchcock, Pete Shelley and Edwyn Collins live, and received a clutch of good reviews for The Mountain Is A Dandy, which was deleted after the collapse of distributors Red Rhino, and is now unavailable.
