Shandy Wildtyme / Whirlpool Guest House

Shandy Wildtyme were Carl Green (vocals/guitar), Andrew Davis (vocals/bass) and Sallyann Davis (vocals) with, on a part-time basis, drummer and producer Graeme Robinson. Based in Stockton-on-Tees, Cleveland, UK, they released as Whirlpool Guest House a single, ‘The Changing Face’, and album, ‘Pictures On The Pavement’, then as Shandy Wildtyme, a CD, ‘Luminous’, on Summerhouse between 1987 and 1995. Highly individual English pop with shared male/female lead vocals, intelligent, slightly quirky lyrics, and a stripped-down jangly guitar-driven sound. Whirlpool Guest House ‘live’ performances featured film and tape (and no band). As Shandy Wildtyme the band started performing live until splitting up in late 1995. Carl Green went on to form The Close-Ups, mixing music and cartoons, and currently leads Head Of Light Entertainment.
